Posted on 10 Comments on My New Job at Pied Piper – Opportunity and Benefits

At the beginning of this month, I started my new job. For the sake of anonymity, let’s say I am working for Pied Piper. I hope there are some Silicon Valley fans in my readers ;) Since I am just starting working at this company, I do not want to disclose it on this blog. And since I am still anonymous, I am going to try to stay like this.

This is going to be a shorter post than usual. In this post, I will describe all the financial aspects of my new job. I am really happy about my new job. Working at Pied Piper is an incredible opportunity. In my field, this is a great company. And in the region where I live, they offer really good conditions. This will help me a lot in my path towards Financial Independence (FI). As you will see, there are many advantages when working at Pied Piper.

How To Build a DIY Bookshelf for 65$

Posted on 4 Comments on How To Build a DIY Bookshelf for 65$

I always liked to build things myself. I had always wanted to buy a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) furniture myself. At first, I wanted to do it principally for fun. But I also wanted to save money on buying new furniture. Since we needed a new bookshelf for our living room, we decided to build a bookshelf ourselves.

We did it with Mrs. The Poor Swiss. None of us is an expert and it is our first DIY furniture. I am reasonably handy in general. And I built a few things with wood when I was a kid. But that was a long time ago. For this project, I watched a lot of DIY videos on Youtube and it taught me a lot. But that is all the experience I have. If you have advice for us, do not hesitate to let us know! In the end, we still managed to build something quite nice for our experience!

In this post, I am going to go over all the steps necessary to build this project. And since it is a finance blog, I am also going to go over the costs of building the wood bookshelf by ourselves.

Posted on Leave a comment on The basics of investing – Why and How to invest?

Investing is something that not enough people do. This is something that I actually started to do too late myself. For some people, it can be intimidating to start investing. Therefore, I decided to write a series of posts on Investing. This series of post is meant to be an Investing Guide For Beginners.

This is the first post I am going to write about Investing. I am going to try to cover as much as possible on the different forms of investing. In this first post of the series, we are going to see what is investing in a broad sense.

In this guide for beginners, I will try to cover the basics, the stocks, the funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and so on! Hopefully, it will be interesting for some of you and it will motivate some people to start investing. If you want this series to be available as an ebook, let me know and I will see what I can do.

I am no financial advisor. I am not nearly an expert investor. This post is just what I learned about investing from my experience and from research.

Everybody will agree that credit cards are very useful. A credit card is a powerful tool to improve your personal finances. However, if you do not choose an adequate credit card, it may actually make your finances worse.

Reasons to Start a Vegetable Garden

Posted on 2 Comments on Reasons to Start a Vegetable Garden

When I was young, I was gardening with my father in our house. And before that, my grandfather was often taking me to his big garden. I always enjoyed it. However, since I moved into my current apartment, I never took the time to start a vegetable garden. Now that my girlfriend moved in with me, we decided it was time to start a garden again.  The idea was to grow some of our own vegetables.

With our apartment, we have a large lawn, filled with grass and a few trees. We asked the owner if we could remove the grass to start a garden. Since she accepted, we started our garden.

I am going to present all we did with our garden in this post. Neither of us is any gardening expert. We maybe did some mistakes, but we are having fun :) And I wanted to share this project. Also, my English gardening vocabulary may not be great. So, gardening experts, do not get offended ;) I would be glad to hear all your tips!

Why Become Paperless – How to?

I think a lot of people will agree that having lots of paper documents at home is a hassle. Who would not want to get rid of all this for a better solution? In 2017, I decided to become paperless with my administrative documents. It was a long work. But now I am finally done. All my documents are available as electronic documents now. I have been able to throw away five big document binders.

I have used my phone as a scanner and uploaded all my documents to the cloud. Now my documents are accessible from anywhere. And they are safely stored in the cloud. Find out how I became paperless for free in this post.

I Will Teach You To Be Rich – Book Review

Posted on 4 Comments on I Will Teach You To Be Rich – Book Review

I just finished reading I Will Teach You To Be Rich, by Ramit Sethi. This book will give you a lot of advice on how to improve your finances. It may not make you a millionaire. But it is a great book, full of helpful recommendations on how to improve your finances!

This book has been great to read. One of the best read from the personal finance books I have read so far. Like the last book I read, I have been able to buy it for a few dollars on Kindle. If you want to be lucky, look at my techniques to find cheap Kindle ebooks. It is really nice and light to read. It is not too dense and still contains quite a lot of information.
