From a personal point of view, August 2018 was a great month. We had our wedding ceremony with friends and family. Also, we went on honeymoon in Egypt. We really had a great time. We rested, swam, snorkeled and had a lot of fun. This was an awesome honeymoon :)
However, from a finance point of view, August 2018 was not a very good month. We spent a lot for our wedding and I had to take days off without pay. This means a very small savings rate. Fortunately, there was some extra income from the wedding and from the Swiss army. This helped us not being in negative this month. But at least, there was some savings ;)

After a disappointing June 2018 month, we managed to get back up to speed in July 2018. We had some strong savings this month. Nothing extraordinary, but pretty good still. We were able to increase our net worth significantly.
Since today is Swiss national day, Happy National Day to all my Swiss readers.
We went to Orléans one week this month. I also spent one week in the army. It was my last five days to serve in the army! Other than that, nothing special happened. It was a good month overall. Let’s go into the details now :)

Fewer things happened in June 2018 than the crazy previous month!
Although it is a good month for savings, it is not as good as I planned. This month is the first month I received my new salary :) But it was a very expensive month :( We had to pay many insurance fees. And several other relatively big expenses. But it is still not too bad :)
Read on if you want to know what happened to use in June 2018!

A lot of things happened in May 2018! The most important event of this month is of course that we got married! We had a nice and simple wedding with close family and friends.
And as you will see, we have reached the 100K CHF milestone in our net worth! This is the first time :) We can now hope that we will stay at this level for some time!
Even considering the wedding expenses, this month has some good savings rate. This is mostly due to the extensive gifts we received. This month is the month with my largest income yet. We should have been able to turn it down. Let’s hope we can keep expenses to a low next month.

After a record-breaking March 2018, April 2018 is even better :) In fact, in terms of savings rate, it is the best month ever! I am really glad I achieved that good result.
Although I had some significant expenses this month, the savings were great. This is partly thanks to the gifts I received this month for my 30 years birthday! I also managed to keep my expenses quite low. And my net worth made a very nice jump. Overall, a great month!

It is now time to make the point about March 2018. Compared to the very poor February month, March 2018 is a great month :)
Not a lot of things happened this month. But that is not bad. I like quiet months. And I was able to save a large part of my income this month. This is great after a bad month.

Update: I changed the way I am accounting for my life insurance, this gives me a savings rate of 4.2% now. It is still a very bad month.
February is now done, it is time for another monthly update! This was not a good month at all for the financial side. But we had a lot of fun in China. And I was happy to see my fiancee again!
I have not posted on this blog since the last update, I was on vacation in China for more than half the month. I hope to post more in March.

Edit: I changed the way I am accounting for my life insurance, this gives me a savings rate of 33.7% now.
It is time for another monthly update! After a good December 2017, the new year is up to a great start in January 2018 with yet another very good month :) I am really starting to get a hold of my finances.

Happy new year to you all!
Now that we started in 2018, it is time for the last monthly update of 2017. After a rather poor November 2017, December 2017 is significantly better. I have been able to keep my spendings lower than usual. It was not a very eventful month. Except of course for the usual Christmas celebrations. I always spend Christmas with my family and it was great :)

November 2017 is over, it is time for another monthly update. After a bad October 2017, I have seen some improvements.
November 2017 was not bad in terms of savings, but it was a bit lower than I was expecting. The savings rate for the month is 14.25%. It is not perfect, but still better than last month. My goal is to go to 25%. But I probably will need a salary raise to go there (I am still gonna try without the raise).
